What is a Room Escape Experience?
Real-life room escape games are a type of physical adventure game in which you are "locked" in a room with your friends, family or work mates. Using your sense of adventure, imagination, puzzle solving skills, powers of observation, teamwork and your sense of fun. Solve a series of stimulating, challenging and fun puzzles, solve the mystery and Escape the room within the time limit.
Are we really locked in?
Our rooms are very safe, with your safety being our first priority. We’ve installed specific safety systems and you can exit the room at any point – the door is never actually locked. It’s very common to be concerned about feelings of confinement prior to experiencing an escape room, but rest assured, our games are no different than walking into a bedroom, study or apartment. Unlike a visit to your chatty great aunt’s house, you’re free to leave any time you like!
What if we’re late?
We strongly advise that you arrive 15 minutes earlier than your booking time. This gives you time to prepare for your escape room or murder mystery experience, and helps us to keep each booking on time. However, we know that things don’t always go to plan so please call us if you know you will be late to your booking.
Is this okay for people with medical conditions?
Our escape rooms and murder mystery game are very safe to play, but if you are averse to sudden movements or scares, you let us know when arriving for your game. We strongly recommend not playing these games while under the influence of alcohol or other substances.
Is there an age limit?
Our escape rooms are suitable for players over 16 years of age. Players under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Mums and Dads: you are welcome to bring your little ones to our escape rooms, if necessary, but our murder mystery game is strictly 16+ as this is a 90 mins experience.
How do we get there?
We are conveniently located in the heart of Fish Lane, only a few minutes’ walk from South Brisbane train station or the Cultural Centre bus station, and only a ten-minute walk across the river from Brisbane CBD.
What if we get stuck on a puzzle?
When entering our escape rooms, you will be given a Walkie Talkie to communicate with your Game Master. We recommend trying your best to crack the puzzles, but if you get stuck we are always ready to help. Additionally, all our rooms including the murder mystery game are monitored via non-recording cameras. We can see if you are in trouble or need a helping hand.
What if we cannot escape in time?
Then you’re trapped FOREVER! Just kidding. We understand that some puzzles can be challenging, and you may not finish the whole story in time. If that happens, you have the option of asking your Game Master to walk you through the room’s story and solution or you can opt for no explanation and make a second booking to try again!
I don’t have a team of 6, can I still play an escape room?
Yes! Our escape rooms are designed to be played by 2 to 6 people, with the possibility of a 7th player on request. Please advise us at the time of booking if you will have 7 players.
What should we bring / wear?
There’s no need to bring anything except your enthusiasm, and a mask (while regulations are still in place). Comfortable clothing is recommended.
Are there any rules?
We have three main rules:

Mobile phones and other devices are not permitted within the escape rooms or murder mystery game. We want to preserve the mystery of our stories and puzzles for all our future guests. There will be plenty of opportunities for photos after you have escaped!

Be respectful of all property and items in our building, and especially within the rooms. Nothing in our escape rooms or murder mystery game needs to be forcibly opened or moved. Please be gentle with anything you can pick up; we encourage you to interact with the rooms but not to break them.

Bring your enthusiasm! We promise, these games are lots more enjoyable when you get involved and aren’t afraid to have fun!
What if we need to go to the loo?
We have toilet facilities on the premises, just ask our lovely reception staff for the key!
Where can we put our valuables?
There are three lockers in the lobby, one for each room. Your whole party’s valuables can be stored in here, and you’ll keep hold of the key during your experience!
Are bookings essential? Do you accept walk-ins? How about same day bookings?
Booking are advised, but not essential as our escape rooms are subject to availability. Walk-ins are welcomed and we can let you know if any games currently open, or when the next free booking will be.
Is it possible to cancel or reschedule the booking?
Yes, you can reschedule a reservation up to 48 hours prior to your time slot. Email info@mysticescapeau.com or call 0452 670 009. Note, there will be no refund for cancellations.
